Angus “Gus” Mortson

Angus “Gus” Mortson, although not born and raised in Timmins, Gus Mortson has been a fixture on the local scene. Born in New Liskeard and raised in Kirkland Lake, Gus settled in Timmins after his career and raised his family here and resides here to this day.

Gus was known for his physical style of play and was nicknamed “Old Hardrock”.

He was a 4 time Stanley Cup winner with the Toronto Maple Leafs (1947-48-49-51) and an 8 time all-star. He also played with the Chicago Black Hawks and Detroit Red Wings.

Gus was actively involved in the local hockey scene and special events.
