Bert Durepos, is without a doubt a gentleman whom has touched youth sports in our community. Bert was a competitive athlete growing up, having played hockey, football, baseball and fastball. He later found pride and happiness in passing on his knowledge and devoting his time to helping develop local athletes and insure sports opportunities.
Bert spent many years in the local arenas coaching at the minor hockey level and as a team manager, along with his boardroom role with the Miller Paving AAA team. He served as President and a member of the Comité De Sports at LaRonde, helping to raise funds and in organizing
local sporting events.
He is also the founder of LaRonde Little League Baseball, which originally played out of the Hollinger Park. His dream was for little leaguers to have their own Field of Dreams. He spearheaded the project to build the little league diamond that is now names D and R Little League Field. It has been dedicated in his honour, and that of his baseball partner “Pitt” Roy.
