Bill Moffatt

Bill Moffatt

Bill Moffat, was a well known local businessman who wanted to build up the local hockey scene and have a top tier representative for the City of Timmins.
From the mid ‘70s to the mid ‘80s his Timmins Northstars brought top level men’s intermediate hockey to Timmins, wining provincial and eastern titles and competing in the national championships.

An enthusiastic and generous builder of the sport, Bill was a throwback to the old mines’ league days and competitive sports teams in the Porcupine Camp.

He was also involved in sponsoring the All Ontario Champion Schumacher Fastball Club and donating to Camp Bickell. “Moff”, as he was affectionately known, was a strong supporter of trying to get Timmins a new recreation complex.
